This policy explains what personal information Industrial Automation Suppliers (“IAS”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and how we look after it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
Industrial Automation Suppliers is an independent importer and supplier of industrial automation components, based in Cape Town, South Africa. We import components from international suppliers to order, against our customers’ purchase orders. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. What information we collect
We only collect information that you give us, or that is needed to run this website safely:
- Contact details: your name, company name, email address and phone number, when you fill in a form, email us or phone us.
- Quote and order details: part numbers, brands, quantities, drawings or other information you send us, and the messages we exchange about them.
- Delivery and invoicing details: such as a delivery address and billing contact, if you place an order.
- Basic technical information: such as your IP address and browser type, which our website and hosting provider process to keep the site secure and working.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this website. The site may use a small number of essential cookies that it needs to function.
How we use your information
- To prepare and send you quotes
- To invoice your orders
- To arrange courier delivery of your orders
- To reply to your questions about a quote or order
- To keep business and tax records that the law requires us to keep
- To protect this website against spam and misuse
We use your information only for quoting, invoicing and delivery. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it is needed to do what you have asked us to do, or where the law requires it:
- Couriers, so they can deliver your order
- Suppliers, where your order details are needed to source the parts
- Service providers who host our website and email
- Professional advisers or authorities, where the law requires us to
Because we source components internationally, some of these parties may be outside South Africa. When this happens, we share only what is needed to source your parts, which is usually part numbers and quantities.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, including using secure, password-protected systems and limiting access to people who need it for their work.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it for your quote or order, and for as long as the law requires us to keep business and tax records. After that, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or update it
- Ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it
- Object to us using it
- Lay a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za)
